What education did you have before you took the Visual Effects for Film and Television course?
Before enrolling into Seneca, I did a 3 year Bachelors course in 3D Animation & VFX back in India, worked for a year and a half. Then planned to fly to Canada in 2017 and started with 3D Animation Post Graduation course in Fanshawe College, which is in London, Ontario.
Tell us a bit about your experience at the college.
My experience at the college has been amazing! The way our faculties put in efforts for polishing our skills and making us realize the importance of becoming a confident artist in this competitive VFX world, is just amazing.
I can't thank enough to all my teachers who guided me taking every step forward. Also the way the teachers inspired me with their stories of struggle and accomplishments in life, just made me stronger and more ambitious every day.
The pattern of recording all the lectures is what helps the most. You have the professor with you (audibly) even if you're stuck while practicing in the middle of the night. You can ask as many questions as you want to all the professors, they would be happy to help you out with that. I came with a rough plan to become a 3D Animator as I was never exposed to the Visual Effects side of the industry in detail. But after getting into this course I realized what I really want to do and have fun at, and that was Matchmoving / 2D,3D Tracking! A lot of people don't want to do this and feel this is something which is not important. Whereas, Matchmoving is one of the most important part of the pipeline and the every first department any project starts with, in the VFX industry. I was confident enough to make sure I choose this path and make my career in this. And yes I did it, with an amazing support of my teachers. They encouraged me to go forward and were happy that I was one of the rare who chose this as my career. That's how I was able to achieve my goals with help of this course. They also made me feel that I am doing great which helped me face the negative vibes around me. Choosing what you have fun at as your career, is the most important tip in VFX industry.
How do you use the education you got at Seneca in your job today?
The education from Seneca has helped me every day in my career today. The skills and values that this course showers on you is just invincible. The course taught me how to manage when working on a particular project and how to organize all my work which is really important being in the industry.
What advice would you give potential students who are thinking of taking the course?
I would definitely recommend this course to the upcoming talent out there who are searching for the perfect pick. Being an international student, I know what are the hurdles that every student faces during the process of leaving their country and family and starting a whole new life. Seneca has been a second home for me during my academic year. I miss it though, I wish the course never ended.
Also the way the program coordinator has being handling the course along with supporting the student's requirements at his best, is what the beauty of this course is. You can fulfill your expectations with this course if you plan to work in this industry in future. You will be in good hands!
If you choose Seneca, you chose your best!
I would like to thank Seneca and all my faculties for an amazing academic year of my life.
